Well, in working my way through “The success principles” I am beginning to feel more and more capable, I am starting to firmly believe in myself and my abilities, I have had a lot happen in the last few weeks, I have had Identity fraud someone somehow managed to clone my debit card and use it to try and get £107 worth of things on it, and my bank were useless in trying to find out what was going on, the local police station said the amount was not high enough for them to look into it, and if it was not for Amazon being suitably efficient I would have had more pain from this episode. Fortuately Amazon found the error in one of their routine checks and they cancelled the account and the payment, and so my account was resumed to my full balance thankfully. I do admit to being slightly stressed out by all of this and wondering “Why me?” This is not the first lot of fraud that has happened on my bank account, I let my ego, my negative self get the better of me and I got angry. I regretted it soon after and managed to calm myself down and think positively. Such was my ability to focus that despite the bank stating they would NOT honour a cheque I had sent to my college for my next course, I actually looked online and found they had honoured it even though I was technically overdrawn at the time. I have so far managed to stay within my budget to a degree of 20% I have overspent but still managed to not completely loose it. I am starting to make a point of running my payment scenario in Money before I buy anything, to make sure I can afford it. And if I can’t afford it right away, I keep trying scenarios until I find either I can find a way and a time to buy it, or I can’t if I can’t then I don’t spend the money, and I am getting better at doing this. I am so thankful for that day last year that I found out about the Secret, I am manifesting more and more joy in my life, and on a scale of 1 – 10 in happiness most of the time I am quite happily on a 9-10 scale. I am slowly erasing the past, it does not matter, it is back there in the past, it has nothing whatsoever to do with my future unless I let it. And from now on I WONT LET IT rule my future. I am really moving forwards with my hypnotherapy, and I am managing to dispose of the negative voice inside of me. I am instead choosing to listen only to the kind quiet voice inside of me that believes in me, and knows I can achieve everything I set about to do. So much so that recently I have signed up for two more home study diploma’s as I am nearing completion of the 5 I started 5 years ago! In the last two months I have done more coursework with higher grades than I have achieved in the last 5 years. I am so proud of myself. I am also very proud of my ability to overcoem my fear of the dentist, to the oint I have had a root canal done without having to have sedation, and I recently was given a gold crown, I was so surpised that he had chosen to give me a gold crown instead of a white one, it made me feel special, and somehow made me feel so rich inside. I know it sounds stupid but to me it meant a lot. He is also referring me to a surgeon to have my jaw re-set this will mean that for the first time in 30 odd years I will have teeth that meet properly, and I will have a different face shape, I might actually be able to finally get veneers and implants done to replace my missing and damaged teeth, which will boost my self esteem so much. I feel at long last that I can achieve this, I really believe that my future is what I make of it, rather than what fate decides. I have a choice of what I want for my future and I am gradually overcoming my overwhelming fears that previously have severely hampered me in my future plans. I will soon be fully qualified as a counsellor, and Fertility therapist, and I am so looking forward to setting up my own therapy centre, I have found an office which literally jumped out at me whilst I was driving, things I would previously have ignored are now being noticed and I am starting to look into each and every opportunity that shows itself to me. And it feels fantastic! I really am looking forward to my new life.
When we see tuners getting their tune on with the project cars of their choice, it’s rarely the large and luxurious frame of the BMW 7 Series but changing it up can’t hurt. The US based Vorsteiner has come out with a kit for the German cruiser named the VR-7 Sportiv Aero package. The point of this package is to intensify the exterior looks and give it a more sporty image.
The kit features a VR-7 carbon fiber add-on front spoiler, a rear add-on spoiler and rear diffuser. You can definitely expect some improvements in handling and downforce as well as a 48mm drop in the suspension. To complete the look are some 21″ x 9″ front and 21″ x 10.5″ rear wheels shod with 255/30-21 front and 285/30-21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. You can choose from brushed aluminum, silver, black, gunmetal and chrome. Not a fan of these colors? No worries! Customers can specify their own color.
As some of you may know, I have been in bed all week suffering from Bird Flu. It isn’t bird flu, of course, but it is something between a very bad cold and mild flu. I have all the aches and pains of flu, but I can enthusiastically wave at my next door neighbour in his garden. I can pin-point exactly where I got it from however: the Citroen dealership in Fareham.
Spending three days in your bed is one of the dullest things known to man, I now realize. I have never been a sickly child, and always thought that a day off school, being ill, was a great opportunity – not to hold up a post office – but read, and read, and read all those books that want to fall off my bookcase. But, of course, with Bird Flu, what would normally be a glorious romp through Bond Street in Mrs. Dalloway, rapidly becomes an episode of Deal or No Deal – crying for no reason and groaning. The only thing I could do, surprisingly, was get onto to my laptop and write these pitiful words to you, whilst browsing on the internet for all the latest news to entertain me.
This, inevitably, brings me onto the 80th Geneva Motor Show, which ends next week and is home to a number of exciting car unveilings and glimpses of the future. There’s a new Ferrari with KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), a hybrid Porsche supercar, a pretty little electric Seat sports car, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a one-off Bentley, the new Ford Focus family, and a raft of concept Citroens that, I can be fairly sure about this, will never be made. Whilst being ill in bed and thanks to the wonders of the interweb, I was able to find about all of these cars with high definition photos and videos explaining to me what I was missing; which suits me.
You see, motor shows within the last ten years have changed from friendly, pleasant places to visit, to huge dealerships where, if you didn’t have an interest in buying the Renault Twingo that you were looking at on the Renault stand, five toughies promptly removed you. I remember going to them in the late nineties and coming home with bags bursting with brochures, hats, and pens. Now if you express an interest in the Skoda Octavia and ask for a brochure, suited salesmen ask you all sorts of questions like your name, address and what you were doing on July 21st 2001. So, to escape the suited Skoda man you must go to the other stands that are full of concept cars which, if they are ever made, you couldn’t possibly ever aspire to owning one.
I, of course, speak in the past tense, for Britain no longer has a motor show. The good old days of Arthur and Celia going to Earl’s Court to see the new Sunbeam Rapier in the 1950s are gone, so too are the vast motor shows held at the NEC in Birmingham in the 1990s. The last was in 2008 at ExCEL, London, and due to only a handful of car manufacturers turning up, it was a complete waste of time. And also due to its location on the Thames, those toughies from the Renault stand went a step further and dropped you into the drink. So, for that reason, the British motor show was dropped from the list of International motor shows. We were a joke, not worth the effort, an embarrassment.
However, it’s not all bad news, for now we have events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed which, along with the multi-million pound racing cars trundling past Goodwood House, also benefits from a selection of manufacturer car stands as good as the cream of Geneva and its friends. And the theme of this year’s event will be ‘Viva Veloce! – The Passion of Speed’ celebrating Italy’s motor racing exploits, and the marque that will celebrate its centenary will be Alfa Romeo. This brings me neatly back to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. This is a positively mouth-watering creation for its body looks far more convincing than its MiTO baby brother. The interior looks quite simple but snazzy too, with striking air vents, and Alfa’s trademark shapely instrument cluster and DNA system. For people who don’t understand what at an Alfa is, they’ll be at home with the 170bhp, 2.0 litre diesel engine, but for those who do; there’ll be a range of petrol engines including a hot ‘Cloveleaf’ version developing 235bhp. Even the base model is performance minded due to its Fiat-derived 1.4 turbocharged petrol engine, developing 170bhp. The Giulietta is the first Alfa in decades that has a chance of carving out a share of the lucrative hatchback market. The old 147 was a bit of a damp squib compared to the Ford Focus and Volkswagen’s Golf, and was a laughable rival to the BMW 1-Series. However, I can tell you this from the interweb because it would seem trying to get a look at this car at Geneva is nigh on impossible. If you haven’t passed out from ogling the gorgeous girls on the Alfa stand, getting to the car and sitting in it is ambitious, for the entire world’s press are fascinated by it.
So, you’ve forced your way through the crowds, your eyes are hurting from the girls, and before you even ask, in your timid-sounding voice could you have a brochure, nine heavies are approaching to eject you. However, if you wait just under four months, you should have access to the Giulietta in the beautiful grounds of Goodwood House at the Festival of Speed, for the car is bound to be the centre-piece of Alfa Romeo’s celebrations. If this is the case, you’ll be able to sit in the car and play with those snazzy air vents until your heart is content, ask for a brochure, and relax in the knowledge that there won’t be any gorgeous girls there – so your girlfriend won’t attack you. A Giulietta might even go up the Goodwood hill. I’m sure that you’ll be so amazed at the new Alfa that you’ll be dying to go and have a look at the competition as well. Fear not, after the motor racing has stopped at Goodwood, pop along to all those local dealerships and relax with a cup of coffee, without the threat of four bouncers removing you from the premises. But don’t go along to Citroen – you’ll get Bird Flu from there.
This morning my stomach dropped and my ears rang with the words, “We’ve been in a wreck, EMS is on the way.” The day I leave my cellphone at home. The day I have a work training to lead. Wacky Wednesday.
Kindly, my coworker offered her cellphone so that I could figure out where Sophia and E were waiting. Of course, E wouldn’t pickup because he didn’t recognize the number I was calling from. Holy Shit! I was catastrophizing, ruminating how awful the scene would be when I arrived.
Fortunately, when I arrived, Sophia was sipping milk from her canteen and holding a new pink bunny that EMS had given her. When she saw me, she smiled and then her eyes welled up with tears. I knew that to mean, “I’m ok, but it was scary, Mama.” I hugged her as tight as I could and then made sure E was ok, too.
The classic BMW was the only casualty. Rear ended by a Tahoe while E was stopped at a red light. Texting, is my guess.
While tucking Sophia in bed this evening, she asked me what happened to her Dada’s race-car. I tried to explain that it had a boo-boo and that we could not fix it. We talked about how scary it was and that everyone was ok, now.
When I was a little older than Sophia, my favorite book was Wacky Wednesday by Theo LeSieg (also known as Dr. Seuss). The illustrations depict impossible and improbable situations that a young boy encounters. When he draws attention to them, he is told that nothing is wacky at all. I found it maddening when this happened, as obviously all the adults were MORONS.
Explaining things to Sophia who is at the age of “Why?” makes me feel incapable, and really, kind of like a moron. Our world is complicated, our knowledge formed by years of layering and spackling our mind’s drywall.
Why can’t the car be fixed? Why can’t I go to school? Why can’t I have ice cream for lunch?
To my horror, I answered recently, “Because I said so.” Nnoooooo! I broke one of my sworn promises to myself that I would never, ever say that to my kids. But sometimes, with my mind clouded with responsibility, it’s the only thing I can muster.
I love that she questions, even when she questions authority. Good girl, that’s the only way she’ll learn.
Last week, she was fascinated by my ability to turn eggs GREEN. Yay, one point for me! If only I can stay two steps ahead of her…
Big news folks! Today we are introducing our first service offering, called pokenEVENT!
A pokenEVENT is a customizable event package that includes a mix of physical devices (pokens), a branded social business card, a branded networking platform (the Poken Member Hub), full post-event analytics, and more.
We built pokenEVENT specifically for event organizers, and the equation is simple: Poken improves networking at the events and helps them stand out in a crowded event space. Improved networking = greater customer satisfaction. The result: Increased repeat attendance, stronger word of mouth, and an additional compelling sponsorship opportunity!
Custom BMW Poken
The concept isn’t entirely new, Poken has been helping customers from around the world host powerful networking events. Companies such as BMW, IBM, Samsung and Tempo Music; as well as conference organizers like the Omniture Summit, Lift Conference, and Swiss ICT Awards. Each of these customers has managed to bring something unique to their events by incorporating pokens, and pokenEVENT, into their offering.
In addition to the pokenEVENT launch, we have also introduced a new Solutions section on our website. Here you can find more info on pokenEVENT, customers, data sheets, and much more.

A new season is upon us and i for one cannot wait. The prospect of Michael Schumacher making his return to Formula 1, Jensen Button moving to McLaren and Alonso’s move to Ferrari is just a small part to the story that is about to unfold over the next 9 months. Although lining up on the grid will be four world championship winners there will be no Kimi Raikkonen. Im sure everyone who reads this will join me in agreeing that it isn’t bad news. Mr personality (no sarcasm there) won’t be there to cheer us all up in his press conferences or whatever it maybe. Could it be why Ferrari had such a bad season last year? Some say it’s the Fin’s way which i would agree with if we take a look at Mika Hakkinen’s personality but at least he smiled! Heikki Kovalainen however proves that all F1 drivers from Finland aren’t all morbid.
Let’s take a look at how the teams and drivers line up.
McLaren – Lewis Hamilton & Jensen Button
The all British line up. In my opinion although its great to see i do think this is a recipe for disaster. After a bad season last year McLaren will be looking to get off to the best possible start in Bahrain. I think all eyes will be on Hamilton and Button to see how they pair up as a team because both will want to challenge for the championship title. Button will want to retain and Hamilton will want to regain. Being English and a huge fan of F1 this is clearly my team for the season.
Mercedes GP – Michael Schumacher & Nico Rosberg
The all German line up but not the main story from this team. Formally known as Brawn GP, the team that won Jensen Button the title now have Michael Schumacher. Coming out of retirement after failing to do so for the remainder of last season Michael Schumacher will be one driver to watch this year. Never being a fan myself i think it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the latest technology and if he still has it. If i remember correctly Im sure thats why he retired when he did because the FIA removed the drivers assists in the cars. Funny that??? Partnered with Nico Rosberg i think it’s clear who Mercedes GP have as their number 1 driver.
Red Bull – Sebastian Vettel & Mark Webber
After a very successful season last year i would put money on an outside chance and another very strong title challenge from Vettel. He is a very talented driver and if Red Bull can put together another good car this year Vettel has a very good chance. Teamed up with Mark Webber who won his first grand prix last season i think Red Bull will be there or there about.
Ferrari – Felipe Massa & Fernando Alonso
Anyone taking bets that this line up could also be a recipe for disaster? Remember Hamilton and Alonso at McLaren? I can see Alonso causing more problems now at Ferrari. First of all Ferrari need to produce a better car. Both Massa and Raikkonen struggled in the car last season with both way of the pace. It will be interesting to see how Massa performs and to see if there is any psychological damage from his bad accident. Alonso certainly has the ability proving it with back to back championship wins a few seasons a go but since then his stubbornness and sometimes reckless driving has taken over.
Williams – Rubens Barrichello & Nico Hulkenberg
The veteran is still going and going strong but this could be his last season in F1. Maybe it was his rare win last year for Brawn GP that is keeping him going. Keep the faith Rubens but by teams standards you have dropped down unfortunately. Nico Hulkenberg is new to formula 1 so not a lot expected from him then. Just enjoy it while you possibly can.
Renault – Robert Kubica & Vitaly Petrov
Another driver that has experienced a horrific accident a few seasons back Kubica has shown signs that he can challenge but is Renault the team that can back this? Coming up to formula 1 the same season as Hamilton, Kubica did show his ability but since his accident he fell off the pace. As i said earlier this could happen to Massa (fingers crossed). It could be a season for Kubica to show again what he can do but that we will have to wait and see. Vitaly Petrov is also a new comer to formula 1 so again lets see how he copes.
Force India – Adrian Sutil & Vitantonio Liuzzi
Back again for another season Force India as we know are a team to make up the numbers. Still in development they have a fairly decent driver line up in Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi and should pick up some points over the course of the season.
Toro Rosso – Sebastien Buemi & Jaime Alguersuari
Another team to make up the numbers Toro Rosso will be looking to do well with Buemi now on board after picking some good experience last season. After picking up 6 points for himself Buemi will be looking to improve on that and develop into a better driver. Jaime Alguersuari is also new to F1. Still only 19 Alguersuari will do well to finish in as many races as he can. Good experience for him though.
Lotus – Jarno Trulli & Heikki Kovalainen
Welcome to formula 1 Lotus and good luck! Red Bull and various other teams had to start somewhere though didn’t they? I have a feeling if they stay in F1 for a while Lotus could go far. With drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen Lotus have drivers with a lot of experience which will be exploited. Jarno Trulli now possibly know as a veteran can lead Lotus to points and Heikki Kovalainen now being dropped by McLaren will feel he has something to prove. Seriously watch this space.
HRT – Karun Chandhok & Bruno Senna
Welcome to formula 1 HRT and good luck! No seriously you will need it. Another new team with two new drivers. It can only mean back of the grid or somewhere round there for every race can’t it? Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna will do well not to crash, never mind get anywhere near points. I do like to be proved wrong though.
BMW Sauber – Pedro de la Rosa & Kamui Kobayashi
BMW Sauber find themselves so far down the pecking order now which is a shame. They too also have a lot of potential to do better and with the experience of Pedro de la Rosa they do have an outside chance of picking up a few points but still end up further down the starting grid. Kamui Kobayashi is new to F1 so same applies to him. Do well, get good experience and be safe! No accidents please.
Virgin – Timo Glock & Lucas di Grassi
This is brilliant! Richard Branson WAKE UP! It’s not going to work again. This isn’t Brawn GP and you don’t have Ross Brawn, Jensen Button or a good car. Good luck to them though. Timo Glock isn’t bad and he does have some experience in formula 1 which will be vital for the Virgin team. It will be interesting to see how it pans out for them and like i said before every team has to start somewhere. Good times maybe ahead for Mr Branson. Lucas di Grassi is also new so pressure is on at this team for him but don’t we all hope he does well?
So there you have it. My preview of F1 2010/11 is complete and now i will wait like the rest of you for 5 more days until it starts. As far as predictions go i think its still too tough to pick out the championship winner from that list of drivers. With the return of Schumacher and drivers swapping teams for the possible best or worst i feel it makes it far too hard to predict. I would hope either Hamilton or Button can do it with McLaren, however i do feel Schumacher and Vettel will have their say on the matter. Yes, that does mean right now Im ruling out Massa, Alonso and Ferrari. Not because Im not a fan though….honest
Between visits to the shop while I couldn’t be working on the car itself I started searching the interwebs for color scheme ideas. Lots of white race cars, not so many black ones…
Here are my initial final mock-ups ready to be sent to Norton Sign. Hopefully good enough to give Fuzzy what he need for a complete design. Yes, Fuzzy Norton is the owner of Fuzzy Sign, he is Bruce Norton’s (who works at RRT Racing) brother.
